Rohit Sarin

 

Dr. Rohit Sarin, Director, National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, is a senior Tuberculosis Consultant with over three decades of experience in this specialization and having specialized training in tuberculosis both within the country and at International level in Japan and New York.  He is a post-graduate teacher for DNB Students of Respiratory Diseases and is a National Trainer for Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP).  Under his leadership, over 20,000 trainers at National and International level have been trained in TB Control.  Dr. Sarin has been a key researcher and has over 50 publications in National and International journals and has contributed to many books on tuberculosis.  Because of his extensive experience, he is one of the Editors of the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis and on the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases and the Journal of Delhi TB Association.Dr. Rohit Sarin, Director, National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, is a senior Tuberculosis Consultant with over three decades of experience in this specialization and having specialized training in tuberculosis both within the country and at International level in Japan and New York.  He is a post-graduate teacher for DNB Students of Respiratory Diseases and is a National Trainer for Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP).  Under his leadership, over 20,000 trainers at National and International level have been trained in TB Control.  Dr. Sarin has been a key researcher and has over 50 publications in National and International journals and has contributed to many books on tuberculosis.  Because of his extensive experience, he is one of the Editors of the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis and on the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases and the Journal of Delhi TB Association.

Dr. Sarin also worked as WHO National Consultant for over three years and was instrumental in framing and pilot testing of the Revised National TB Control Programme at the Central TB Division, Ministry of Health.   He has also been deputed as a Temporary Advisor of WHO from time to time on various aspects of Tuberculosis Programme and its Control in the South-East Asian Region.  He is SAARC Trainer for MDR-TB and DOTS Plus. He is Member of Global Guidelines Development Group for New TB Drugs.

 He is the Former Chairman of the Regional Green Light Committee (MDR TB Advisory Group) for South East Asia Region (2012-2015) and continues to be a Member of the rGLC SEAR and Global Drug Resistant Initiative. 
He has been a consistent Member of International Joint Monitoring Missions for RNTCP and a National RNTCP Appraiser for States.  He is on the National DOTS-Plus Committee for MDR-TB, National Committee for Airborne Infection Control, National Committee for Operational Research, National Committee for Pediatric Guidelines and National Drug Monitoring Committee. He is one of the nodal persons responsible for initiating private sector involvement in RNTCP in co-ordination with Delhi Medical Association and organized workshop for drafting National Policy in this regard.  He is also a National Facilitator for training the trainers in MDR TB.
